Tonight I have been reading an on-line article from the German magazine Der Spiegel; the article was apparently re-published in The New York Times. The article is about the Stalinist regime in North Korea. It mentions that many “counter-revolutionaries” in the North have been forcibly placed in communist prison camps. Here’s the relevant exerpt:
Three {N. Korean} soldiers grabbed the woman and shot her on the spot. The crowd, deeply fearful and horrified, quickly dispersed…. The next morning, tanks broke through the factory gates and mowed down the demonstrators. According to eyewitness reports, hundreds lost their lives. Several days later, dozens of suspected agitators were shot, and countless so-called counter-revolutionaries and their families were taken away to labor camps. {emphasis mine}
I think the article can be acccessed here, if you have a NYT on-line subscription.
I make this post as a reminder that there are counterrevolutionaries in the world TODAY who are suffering under a Soviet-style vicious persecution. If you are lucky enough to read this Internet post, please pray for our brothers anywhere in the world who suffer daily in a Stalinist nightmare.
