Gideon’s trumpet in New York

This story manages to capture quite a lot about a New York attitude toward religion in general and Christianity in particular: Gideons pass out Bibles in New York. At the end Norman Siegel gives the authoritative word—it’s part of the goodness and wonder of being a New Yorker to feel a bit queasy about this sort of thing. Still, these people are nice enough and should be tolerated in their place among all the other permanently and rightly powerless fringe groups that drop down on New York from the great beyond.

  1. One of the great things
One of the great things about America is the presence of a Gideon Bible in every hotel room. I’ve sent the Gideons money in gratitude for their work.

I would like to know how I could get the Gideon Org come to my Adult Day Care Center on January 19th 2004 at 1pm and give away copies of their little New Testament to about 100 people.

    Please respond ASAP
