Dear Mr. Kalb and Fellow Readers:
Daniel Pipes is a respected pundit that has engaged in nominalism, which was pointed out by by Lawrence Auster at View From the Right. Mr. Pipes says, “Islam can be whatever Muslims say it is.” Last read, 11-22-05 http://libertyandculture.blogspot.com/2005/11/is-islam-racism.html
Why? Is he so anti-Christian that he embraces the enemy of my enemy is my friend? I supect so. A religion is not whatever its followers say it is; such an idea is so goofy that Mr. Pipes’ rationality is highly questionable despite his being very smart.
It never ceases to amaze me that people much smarter than me are so stupid or foolish or both. Maybe another way to say it is Mr. Pipes is one of the dumbest smart people I know. (This was a theme in “I Robot.”)
